Mr. Minney has been at the forefront of the charter school development process since the inception of the Charter Schools Act of 1992. Mr. Minney has litigated many issues regarding the Charter Schools Act and has represented and defended charter schools in court and before administrative agencies (e.g., the State Board of Education and PERB). Mr. Minney has drafted charter petitions, bylaws, administrative service agreements, articles of incorporation, tax exemption applications, leases, employment contracts, personnel policies, and other ancillary documents necessary to successfully operate a charter school. Mr. Minney is an appointed representative on the State Superintendent's Charter School Advisory Committee and is a frequent speaker at CSDC and CANEC conferences.

Mr. Young's interest in education began in 1986 as a teacher for Sacramento Country Day School, a college preparatory K-12 school in Sacramento. Since graduating from McGeorge School of Law in 1992, Mr. Young has exclusively represented public and private schools and employers throughout the state of California. While Mr. Young's practice involves all matters affecting charter schools, his practice focuses on labor law, personnel administration, board governance, constitutional issues, and the investigation/resolution of parent, community and employee complaints. Recently, Mr. Young also successfully defended a local educational agency before the California Court of Appeal in a matter involving student discipline.

Over the last four years, Ms. Corr's practice has focused on charter school representation, emphasizing legal assistance to charter schools in the development phase, including the petition process, negotiation of legal and fiscal agreements as well as administrative service agreements. Ms. Corr has represented charter schools before chartering agencies and SELPAs throughout the state of California. Ms. Corr also represents charter schools in operation, including matters related to policy development, special education, facilities, student discipline and dispute resolution. | |
