CALL FOR DISCUSSION LEADERS

The program for California Charter Connection will include a variety of discussion sessions addressing key issues pertaining to high school students. All sessions will be led by students and should include a 15-20 minute presentation or synopsis that prepares the group for a 25-30 minute discussion. We are asking for discussion topics to be of interest to charter high school students, ranging from education reform to general teenage issues. Creativity and innovation are greatly encouraged regarding topics and format. Discussion leaders should also be prepared to begin with an icebreaker to allow the group to get to know each other and become comfortable.

Some possible discussion topics include: common charter school concerns, how to start your own school, advocacy issues, curriculum design, independent study, student and staff relations. Please feel free to submit other discussion topics as well.

The applications will be evaluated and selected based on originality of concept, approach, and perspective. Notification of the results will be made by February 15^th. Online submission of this form is also available at www.canec.org.
