CANEC is the statewide membership organization of charter schools.  We urge your NO vote:

The bill is too prescriptive for school districts and charter schools in that it places in law specific job titles without regard to whether or not the individuals in those positions have any responsibility for purchasing or procurement.

Contains language regarding charter schools that is too vague and  overreaching. This could result in potentially harmful interpretations, for example a determination that school volunteers are “designated employees” under this bill.

The Senate Bill Analysis had listed CANEC as supporting this bill.  THIS WAS THEIR ERROR AND IT HAS BEEN CORRECTED.  We urge your NO vote on AB 1197.  For more information, please contact CANEC at 916-448-0995.
